A New Chapter

Hello friends! New year, same me but with a fresh perspective on what I want to accomplish in life. I feel like there is no better way to start the new year than with something NEW and exciting, so here it is – I STARTED A LIFESTYLE BLOG! I want to share with you what provoked me to start this blog, but first I want to reflect on how I got here.

REFLECTIONS 2020

As I reflect back on 2020, this was going to be my year. It was going to be the catalyst that was going to set my future into motion and I had high hopes for what the year was going to bring. We all know how the year turned out, bringing our lives to a standstill as anxiety and fear took over. After March, most of the year felt like a waiting game – waiting to get back to normal life so I can figure out what this year was actually going to bring me instead of being stuck at home. I was already struggling with figuring out what my purpose and passions were, and this was making it even harder for me to discover what was next for me.

THE CATALYST

In the midst of the chaos of COVID, I am very thankful to have the opportunity to continue working and this led me to some projects that stretched me as a creative. I had the opportunity to do some creative writing and through a period of 6 months, I realized I really enjoyed expressing myself through creative writing.

One morning in October on my commute to work, I had this flood of ideas come to mind and they were so vivid that I had to write them down. I didn’t know if these were crazy images of my own imagination or God ideas. I immediately began to doubt myself and my ability to accomplish them, so I filed them away. So what does the creative writing with work and these very vague so called “God ideas” have to do with anything?

Well, oddly enough a few days later I was asked to participate in a women’s leadership development group at my church. I had no idea what I was signing up for, but I was like “I have nothing else to do with my life, cause you know, COVID…why not?!” After attending the first class of this 6-week course, they announced that there was going to be a passion project that we would have to present at the end of the 6 weeks. They gave many examples of ideas for passion projects, but the one that resonated with me so loud and clear was “BLOG.” It finally clicked with me that the ideas I had that morning on my drive to work were ideas for this passion project. This was the very catalyst that set me into motion to create this blog!

THE WHY

I started this lifestyle blog based from what I believe was a God dream on my journey to finding out what my passions were and how I can use them to do something I enjoy. This lifestyle blog is a platform where I can express myself through creative writing by talking about things that I am passionate about in self-care, food, fun DIY projects, real honest talks about life, and whatever I have on my mind. I wanted to create a space where I can help others on their own personal journey by talking about my wins, struggles, tips, and tricks hoping to inspire someone else.

If you’ve made it this far down, thank you for taking the time to read this. Stepping into the unknown is scary and sometimes we have to do it afraid. I am excited for this new chapter and I hope you will follow me on this journey!
