Hello friends! In early April we officially announced the exciting news that Zac and I are going to be parents! That’s right, I’M PREGNANT! I know I am a little behind with posting on the blog about it, but I decided to take a break as there was a lot of uncharted territory I was navigating in the first trimester. Since I have been in the dark for the last 6-months, I wanted to give an update on my journey so far and answer the common questions I get asked almost every day.
WHAT ARE YOU HAVING?!
IT’S A GIRL!!! That’s right, the first addition to our family is a little girl. I get asked often how soon we found out the gender and how we did the gender reveal, so here’s the 411.
WHEN DID WE FIND OUT? We found out at 14-weeks through doing a 3D ultrasound but waited to find out with our family at a gender reveal party 2-days later. Our ultrasound technician was kind enough to hid the gender of our little nugget and help us conceal it (from ourselves) until it was time to pop the gender!
HOW DID YOU DO THE REVEAL WITHOUT FINDING OUT? I purchased some biodegradable confetti powder cannons that came in a 4-pack (2-blue/2-pink) and brought them to the appointment with us. The cannons are gold on the outside but have a colored sticker on the bottom to indicate what’s inside. We covered the color indicators with black stickers and bundled the cannons together with a note that said “Boy” and “Girl.” The technician took them and slid the envelope she wrote the gender in under the rubber band of the correct cannon color, then removed the labels so we didn’t know what the extra one was.
If you decide to wait a few days before you find out like we did, I suggest putting them in a bag in the back seat of your car until you need them. Basically I forgot about them and they weren’t inside the house tempting us to look inside that envelope – out of sight, out of mind. To sum it up, we popped the cannons with friends and family, finding out in this beautiful moment together what Baby Sopak will be…

WHEN’S THE DUE DATE?
Baby Sopak is due October 13th! We are just a couple months away from her making her debut into this world.

HAVE YOU PICKED A NAME?
We have a couple of names on our list, but we’ve decided to wait until the baby is born before we decide on her name. Sometimes you just don’t know until you see them. Of course this is driving our family crazy, but it’s something special we get to keep between us until she arrives.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
This is probably the most commonly asked question I get on the weekly, if not daily. Everyday is different, but 98% of the time I am feeling really good! The hunger is real, so I’m eating all the time. Growing a child is like running a marathon, so consuming 6 small meals a day and eating a high protein diet makes my body the happiest. Staying physically active and getting bi-weekly adjustments at the chiropractor has been the best thing to keep pain away as my body is ever changing. I’ve learned that pregnancy is not just all physical but is just as much of a mental game you have to play daily.

I have had my days like any pregnancy would, but overall this has been such a joy to experience. Baby girl is growing everyday and very active mid morning, early afternoon, and after dinner. I’ve started to feel her little feet and limbs pushing out on my belly, which is pretty neat and sometimes tickles. Zac and I are so excited for this new season of our life to experience parenthood. If I’m being honest, I still feel like I’m not quite ready or prepared to become a mama. But I know when the moment is right God is going to grace us for what’s to come and I have a feeling motherhood is going to come naturally.
